Life is short.
Let me see if my heart is still beating. Knee on my neck, just stopped breathing. Hands up, don't shoot.
I was just making a little extra money, selling DVDs
I told you I had a concealed gun license yet you still shot me. Right in front of my baby.
Bullets racked my body before I could hear wedding bells. Me and my gal, was just trying to get something to eat. Tased and surrounded by police.
Shot in my own house, in my undies. Fake calls to the police.
400 years..will this ever end?
All I wanted was some skittles and an ice tea. Daymn, lost my life cause I was black wearing a hoodie. Can't even sleep in my own house. Without 27 bullets taking me out.
Maybe, I am just too Bland. Cause you told people, I died by my own hand. Still blue lining that master plan to take us out. Not your fault you say. Jog in my own neighborhood you say?
You say you are scared of us?
Our ancestors taught us how to fight for justice. Yours taught you how to take it away. Hanging us on trees. Taking our families away.
Now police brutality is slowly putting us on our knees. Guess, nobody remembers Rodney King.
I guess its not really denying us our basic human rights. We are still 3/5s of a human ain't that right?
The Constitution was never meant to protect me. Neither was the Bill of Rights. That's why we fought for Civil Rights
You see...that night you walked into those slave quarters and laid with her even though she fought with all her might. You put citizenship in my blood line. Every baby born after, reflected those rights.
Which made us Americans. THIS is our home. You want us to pledge allegiance to a flag that became United on our backs. We get no accolades for that. Guess you forgot the soldiers that protected this country were black. My fault, colored..remember that?
Our blood, sweat and tears are in the soil. Our ancestors bodies, fertilized it with their bones.
We don't get the fancy headstones. Just a mass grave on Massas land. The sea our escape hatch.
We hold these truths to be self evident. That all men are created equal.
We are paying a very expensive price for that equality.
